First 6 months of forever

We have been married SIX months today. SIX whole months. I am loving this season in our lives. We've had ups and downs and somehow always come out stronger than before. You always think you know your significant other. Then, you get married. Your spouse is there, all the time. I have learned a lot about A, myself and about marriage as whole.

Here are a few things I have learned about marriage in the last 6 months.

Early riser: --I learned VERY fast that my husband is NOT a morning person. He doesn't like to be awake any time before noon if he had his choice. That being said, I am a total morning person. This makes for interesting weekend morning when he is home from work. I try to let him sleep awhile but sometimes I can't stand it. I have to wake him up, which that doesn't make him happy. but he is a good sport and most of the time will get up.

Whats for dinner?-- One of the hardest things for me to do is to be motivated to cook dinner. IknowI'materriblewife.Another thing I am adjusting to is if I'm not hungry, my husband still is. I could eat buffalo chicken dip for dinner every night if A. wasn't around.

Guess What? -- This is phrase I learned super quick you can't say without people thinking you're pregnant.  We've been married for like 5 minutes people. Give us time. I can not being feel good and the first question is...ARE YOU PREGNANT? Can't a girl just have a stomach bug?? I can have headache, ARE YOU PREGNANT? I can have a paper cut, ARE YOU PREGNANT?? It's pretty funny but unless the Lord has other plans we are just have some time for us.

Laundry-- Talk about shock, how many clothes can two people have??? And towels...Our laundry is NEVER done. I am trying hard though. When it was just me I liked to one laundry one night during the week and and one day of the weekend. That is not the case now.

The first six months: AMAZING!!

Teacher Talk: Outfits

Hello ladies! I hope everyone is doing well. Can you believe we almost have two months of school down?? After our first post series and chatting with my new friend, Gini, I am very excited about this post. I must admit, I am no fashionista. I normally do not fall into the "in" trend until it's almost over. I dress for comfort. I want to cute AND comfortable. I never know what my day will hold.  I am one of those teachers that will wear Tom's over heels ANY DAY!! I don't know how those teachers do it. I am kind of upset because they dryer messed up my FAVORITE shirt.  Some of these pictures aren't the best but I hope they capture my so called "style."

This is probably most comfortable outfit. (This was a no make up day) Sweater and tank top are from Old Navy, Pants are from Columbia, they could actually qualify for yoga pants but they dress up great :)

"Mrs. Scotti what's wrong with your hair? It looks like you didn't brush it." --quote from this day. After concluding that I can't pull the "scrunchy" hair look off, I put it up and the same kid said, "Now your hair looks good."

I forgot to take this picture that morning. Say hello to my beautiful grandmother.
Dress & Sweater both from Target.

Another one of favorites!
Dress is from Old Navy & Sweater is from Target...are you seeing a trend here?

My husband laughs when I take "selfies." This picture is not quality but I am loving these navy blue linen pants from Old Navy & this shirt is from Kohls.

If you have been teaching for 5 minutes you know that having comfortable shoes is VERY important! My 2 favorite pair of shoes are: Rainbows (for the early months of school) and Tom's. Who doesn't love Tom's?? I've gone through 2 pair of grey Tom's. My hubs refuses to buy anymore but I have a pair on my Christmas list, so we shall see!!

Teacher Talk: Introduction

Hello ladies! I am so excited for this link up. One, because it's my very first one (I hope I do this right!). Two, I am getting connect with other teachers!

My name is Scotti, yes that is my real name. I am 28 and a newlywed. My awesome husband (I love saying that!) is a firefighter/paramedic, who will soon be leaving for the fire academy within the next few months.

I teach special education at the high school level. My class is self-contained, community based class or CBC for short. All my kiddos are significantly cognitive delayed, which means that their disability effects much of their independent thinking or adaptive skills. I have nine awesome kids with rulings ranging from autism to Down syndrome.

My school has three CBC classes, which is some what unusual but for the size of our school (almost 1700 students) it evens out. My class is the middle class and we are on a kindergarten to second grade level. Academically, I teach them everything. We go to a general education PE class which is awesome and we go to a regular lunch.

I could give a long drawn out reason why I chose teaching and why I chose special education. The answer is pretty simple. This is where The Lord called me. Honestly, I didn't pick SPED, it picked me. I believe in my heart I am doing what The Lord put me on this earth to do and some days are much tougher than others. Even through ALL the paper work, meetings, conferences and trainings my heart is always full.

PS--Sorry for the lack of pictures, I promise to do better next time! :)

ABC...123

Hey everyone! I hope everything is going great your way. I can not believe it is August! August means two things: my birthday and school/work is starting back. Twenty thirteen brought me to the ripe old age of 28. Twenty-seven was the best year of my life and I can't wait to see what this new age has in store Adrian and I.

Last week, my husband finally talked me into going to look at new vehicle for him. And we came came with this...

I will admit, I was iffy on getting anything new, because his truck was only 2 years old. I am the kind of girl that keeps a car until the wheels falls off. Then I would I buy new wheels. When I traded my maxima in it a 192,000 miles on it! In the end, I am in love with the jeep. Especially with the top off. The forecast for the week looked rainy but we got to take the top off on my birthday and cruise for my birthday.

After my birthday, I tried to catch up on my house work before going back to work. Well, Monday rolled around and I still had laundry to do but work was calling my name. This time of year I am itching to get into my room and make things new.

The picture above is when I first started working in my room. I was beginning to get overwhelmed because the table needed to be fixed, I hadn't made my copies for take home folders, and I still needed to type up all the important first days of school. One my goals for this year was to be more organized. Organization has always been of weakness of mine. But this year I will be organized! I worked my little tail off today getting papers together, lesson plans and.my favorite part, getting my classroom ready. Here is my favorite part of the day.

There is more on down the board but its not quite ready yet! We have one more day of meetings & working in our rooms. I still get the same butterflies the night before school starts as I did when I was little. I can't wait to see my kids and meet the new ones!

Wedding Recap: BRIDE & GROOM

I mentioned before that Adrian and I decided to a "first look" and get the majority  of our pictures done with so we could spend time with our guest. I was happy we went this decision. A is not a big fan of pictures but he participated with a good attitude this day, I mean it was his wedding too. :) Enjoy!

Wedding Recap: FIRST LOOK

Adrian and I decided to the first look for a few reasons. The number one reason being that we didn't want to be all caught up after saying "I do" taking pictures. We wanted to spend time with our guest.
Our first look was something I will never forget. I wanted to run down that aisle to him as fast as I could. The suspense killed me. It seemed like it took forever to get to him. (and Whitney made me walk slow so she could capture the moment.)

Wedding Recap: Getting Ready

My sweet cousin came from Arkansas to do my hair and make up. She did a fabulous job with my hair and all the girls hair. I liked having this down time with these girls. They were funny to watch and listen to their chatter about life. When Whitney arrived my heart started beating just a little faster. IT. GOT. REAL. The photographer was here. Time to get married. We started running a few minutes behind and I got little uneasy. Wedding day or not, I like to be punctiual. Amber worked her magic and got it all done and then we were off to the venue.

"Sweat is fat crying"

Since I have been married, life has been been pretty busy. I've been working. Adrian is getting settled in his new job, which he is loving so far. I feel like my house is finally coming together. I have a few things hung up which really makes a big difference to me. We get our wedding pictures this week and I am anxious t to see what Whitney has come up with. If working with kids wasn't her true passion, her second one would be photography, that girl has got it. She has been sending me "sneak peeks" to get feed my anxiety, I can  NOT wait to see them. I know I will spend all my extra money on Shutterfly this weekend.

For the past three weeks, I have been spending a lot of time at  the gym. Yes, you read that correctly. Scotti Leigh Miles (I love seeing, hearing, and writing my new name.) has joined the gym. Anna, aka Sister, begged me forever to the join in off season of soccer to "stay in shape." But really looking back, when you are 18 are you ever really out of shape? I played some time of sport my whole life, so working out came with it. But it was more mandatory then voluntary.

A. has been getting shape to pass his CPAT so I thought I would join with him. I am not doing his CPAT work outs though. I run and do some weights. I started running on the treadmill and then running outside when it wasn't ninedegreeshotterthanhell  too hot. I only ran outside two times in past two weeks. This week, I've ran outside 3 times. It was an eye opener. Pretty much what I can do on the treadmill I can barely do half outside, on the pavement. I was pretty discouraged. I've been getting some advice some of friends who run about 7 miles a day. Ok, well one friend runs 7 miles a day and the others aren't far behind him. My neighborhood is a good mix of flat roads and not so flat roads. There are 2 hills that will be the death of me. I will get in through it though.

I made a collage, whichtookforeverandIdon'tevenlikeit, of some of things I use and like while running.

From right to left.

1. The Color Run is coming back to Memphis in October and I plan on rocking it out.
2. My Tervis Tumbler water bottle. We all know I love my Tervis' but this is perfect when working out.
3. Nike Free's. I got the 4.0 cushion level. They are the best running shoes I've had.
4. Nike Plus App. This neat little app keeps up with everything. And when you run outside it keeps up with you via GPS.
5. The Elvis Presley Run & Walk will be my first official 5k. It will start and end in front of Graceland
6. I love to run in my comfort color tank top. I wish I could find more. Running in the south, in the summer time is HOT! Staying cool and hydrated is a must!

ONE month!!

Hey yall! We've been married for ONE whole month today. Can you say time flies? I can't believe it was ONE month ago, I was getting ready to marry the man on my dreams. Let's just say life started buzz by right before the wedding.

We finally got everything finalized to close on our house the last week in May. Also, A had a job interview the week of our wedding and he found out not soon after that he got the job. This couldn't have come at a better time. The Lord was really shining his grace on us. It's a better job with much better benefits with room to grow. He got his uniforms Monday and he looked oh so handsome & official.

The house we bought was an older one but it came with a pool. Now that pool deserves a whole another blog post. It has a built in book shelf, big rooms and a covered back patio. It's perfect!! We are still unpacking. It seemed like every time we got a box unpacked, there was another that we found.

This summer, I signed up for extended school year aka ESY. It's a little an extra money which is never bad thing but it's getting experience with different kiddos that I am really in it for. Most of the kids I work with our high school age, my kiddos this summer are younger.

This summer is one full of changes and I am trying to embrace them all. Another hobby I've picked up is running. I got this fire under me and I'm taking it head on. A and I are also trying to eat better too. I can't say that I have given up Dr. Pepper completely but I have cut back. Baby steps right?? My goal is to be able to run The Color Run. I eventually want to build up to a half marathon. Who knows, maybe I'll will go farther after that. I know I've only been doing this a week but I already feel better and want to be better! I am following The Color Run beginner 5k plan! I will start week 2 in a few days.
